Another one of my modules at the University of Abertay is the ‘Games Marketplace’ module. In these series of lectures, we learnt about various facts about the games industry, as well as current trends. At the end of this module, we had to write an essay based exam, based on the topics we studied. One of the questions was about how quickly improving computer technology can affect games genres.
For example, we were required to be very knowledgeable about different business models, including how games are traditionally sold, as well as newer models like subscription models and free-to-play.
